Dug from the archives, here’s a light-writing shot taken in my office a few months ago. I’ve seen several of these kinds of images show up around the Web, my least favorites being this one and this one.
The description from my flickr: “I used Nathan’s key chain light to write my name in the air while he held the shutter open using the bulb setting. Stopped at f32, the aperture was small enough to keep out most of the light around me and give me enough time to crank out those letters.”

My visit to Missouri is over and I’m back at the beach. I had an absolute blast, and even got an extra day in the Show-Me because of weather delays in Atlanta.
Here is the gratuitous flickr set promo of images documenting how I spent my time in good ole Sweet Springs.

"Kansas City" by Albert King

Man, I can’t wait to get back home tonight.

I’m goin’ to Kansas City, Kansas City, here I come
Yes, goin’ to Kansas City, Kansas City, here I come
They got a crazy way a-lovin’ an’ a I wanna get me some

I was standing on the corner, of 12th Street and Vine
Yeah, standing on the corner, of 12th Street and Vine
With my Kansas City woman an a bottle of Kansas City wine

Well I might take a plane, I might take a train
If I have to walk, I’m going there just the same
I’m going to, Kansas City, Kansas City, here I come
They got a crazy way a-lovin’ an I wanna get me some
Oh yeah

Keep your hands off of her, don’t belong to you
Keep your hands off of her, don’t belong to you
She’s mine all mine, no matter what she do

Well I might take a plane, I might take a train
If I have to walk, I’m goin’ there just the same

I’m goin’ to Kansas City, Kansas City, here I come
They got a crazy way a-lovin’ an I wanna get me some
They got a crazy way a-lovin’ an I wanna get me some
They got a crazy way a-lovin’ an I wanna get me some!
Yeah!

A new brotoshopping concept is circulating, where a photo of a father and his infant child is recomposed so that one is wearing the other’s head, and vice versa. Here’s my first shot at it, using my super-friend Tu and his daughter Cat Phi.

From left, my nephew Ian and his two friends, brothers Danny and Guillermo, who visited T.I. for a pre-summer vacation May 29 - June 3, 2008. They hail from San Diego, and average out to be 20 years of age.

Me? Helping college kids do interwebs? IDK WTF??

Yesterday I wrapped up a week-long stint as a faculty member at the New York Times Student Journalism Institute at Dillard University in New Orleans. The program is a pretty sweet deal for the kids. They get to work in a newsroom setting where Times staffers assign them stories and help them through the process of interviewing, writing and copy editing. The result is a full daily edition of the Times that includes upwards of 60 stories.

Oh yeah. Nowadays newspapers are useless unless they have an accompanying Web site. That’s where my help partly came in, as I guided students on posting stories to the site and creating multimedia content to accompany those articles. The work included photo galleries, audio slideshows, videos, audio clips, and even a timeline. I was impressed by the finish work, which you can view here.

I’ve been in New Orleans since Wednesday and have finally gathered enough images to create a proper flickr set. Here they are.
